Where do you guys buy your backing strips?
-
http://echoarchery.com/

Echo's pricing is very good and so is the shipping.
They are sponsors here.
I buy mine from some of the same sources they use usually have to buy 50 slats to make it worth while.
Looks like they buy by the thousands to offer those retail prices.

Macbow is right, can't beat that price unless you're buying a lot of strips. And I will tell you, I bought 25 slats for $100 through a bamboo supplier and maybe 15 of them are goo enough for backing, and they are only the 1.75" wide. So you might get the bundle for less from a non-bow supplier, but they are not going to be graded for bow building and you will have some junk in there too.

Echo's

Watch the big auction site. I've bought bundles of 25 of them on there for $5 a piece. Search for 'bamboo slats' and 'bamboo planks'. All were great quality too.

I buy whole bamboo poles from Florida and cut out my own.
-
Florida? Ya think you could narrow it down a little there Ropy? Lol How much money for a boo pole and how many pieces do you get out of one? What kind of boo is it?
-
Ropy??

I have a yard full of 1 1/4"- 2" diameter bamboo.
Details on how to turn it into backing please.

Those are too small. You need about 5 inches diameters
-
It should be bigger in diameter, Gnome. 3.5 - 4" in diameter so that it can be cut into pieces 1 3/4 - 2" wide. That way when it's flattened on the inside by sanding or planing, it's still wide enough to span the width of the wood you're gluing it onto.

Bummer. Would have given away a truck load.

I have gooten good boo from Cali Bamboo

I get mine from FrankSupply. I get the 2"x 8' planks. I've tried 3 different places and they have the best quality by far.
