Title: Fletch problems?
Post by: rybohunter on March 07, 2008, 04:05:00 PM
I have RT wing 4" feathers. They have such a hook to them I am having problems getting them on the arrow properly. I have a straight jig,(bitz) and when I try to fletch them offset the way a rt wing should go, they end up looking like a "C".
I've tried a few the opposite direction and they come out a bit better.

Is there anything wrong with fletching rt wings "backwards"?

Does anyone have any tips to help me out getting them to sit properly the right way?

thanks

sounds like maybe you aren't leaving them in the clamps long enough to have a good glue set-up time.
leave them for at least an hour per fletch and see what happens, i think you will find that they won't curl up anymore. also, you don't need alot of off-set, to have straight/off-set fletching that works.

Wrap 'em in a damp paper towel for 20-30 min.. This should help 'em lay out and prevent any puckers down the road. I do all mine like this but I use the fletch tape instead of glue though and it works great. Just make sure they're not too damp for good adhesion.-ART B
