Finally Completed this one. Been working on it for most of a year now. Came in lighter than I had hoped for, 42# @ 27" was hoping to get around 50#. She is 62", made from two billets from the same tree, joined by a homemade sleeve system. The outer sleeve is made form 1.25 EMT conduit, the inner sleeve is made from a piece of brass sump pump drain pipe.
Had a lot of trouble tillering this one, mostly due to the saddle on my tree came loose and was not level. When I finally figured this out, there was too much wood removed from the lower limb. When I finally got the top limb caught up and pulling evenly I ended up with lower weight and about 2" of set. The bow shoots very smooth, with no hand shock or vibration. Skins are faux diamondback, handle is jute twine.

Wow...That thing is awesome! Great job.
-
Very nice Dan. That was a difficult bow to tiller and you did good.
-
nice work Dan! what finish did you use on the faux skins. mine always look flat, tried tru oil, wipe on poly etc but always look dull.Very ingenious with the sleeve too!
-
Very nice, Dan.
-
Nice looking bow. Tiller looks good. Do you have any pictures of the sleeves?
-
Bob, I use enough coats of Tru oil to fill the pores in the fabric and buff between coats with scotch brite pad and mist with a coat of spray poly.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Very nice.

Clint, sorry but didn't take any pics of the handle before I put it together. If you have ever looked at one of the sleeves from Three Rivers, it is very similar. The outer sleeve is made from the EMT conduit and the inner sleeve is made from the brass pipe. They both have to be split length wise shaped to the size you prefer and welded back together. I silver solder the brass sleeve. Hope this helps.

Looking good Dan.
I would suggest you watch that sleeve system closely. A friend of mine went the same route and his EMT eventually stretched and tore on him.
-
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on it. I probably have close to 1000 shots through it so far with no noticeable stretching yet.

Super cool bow :)

Very nice bow

Dang... You outdid yourself once again! You may have to bring that bow with you next time you're in Coatesville so I can drool over it in person. Seriously, when can I get on your build list?!

Evan, always looking for a reason to build another one. LOL
