Title: Fixing backed recurved tip
Post by: elkors on June 28, 2016, 02:36:00 AM
Hi, Dear Bowyers,

I was nearing the finish of my recurved bow, when I noticed that one of the recurved tips has lost a bit of its curve (right one in the image) - the difference in tip height of an unstrung bow is 1cm.

This must have occurred while I was correcting the tip twist to fix string alignment.
The problem is that I have already rushed and backed the tips with snake skin using white carpenters glue.

Does anyone have experience for fixing the bend in such a case as I do not want to damage the snake skin.

Thank you.

Is this a wood bow or glass lam bow?
If a wood bow I'd make that limb the top.
Also, never add decorations(snake skins, etc.) until the tillering is finished and the bow is shot in.

It is wood. The handle is also done so this is to be the bottom limb.
Yeay, i learned that - measured them both before glueing so this was a surprise.

Just tiller it out and be done with it.
