just curios here,
I was looking at a bingham's blueprint and it said/showed when making the form after you cut out the bow profile cut an 1-1/4" off the full length of the form and riser area to make room for material and hose...
Here's the question: Couldn't you just cut out your bow profile and lift the form the 1-1/4" instead of removing more wood?

Yes, just make sure the gap is right all along the form. On my D/R s sometimes you have to trim a little after separating the 2 pcs.

I have to shim my form from the fades up the riser. Next time I will decrease the gap a little in that area.

On a straight longbow or a mild r/d, simply lifting the form would be OK.
However, for the curve area in a recurve, this wouldn't work and you'd end up with differing distances between the top and bottom halves of the form around the curves. Cutting 1 1/14" off the top ensures the two halves are parallel to one another their entire length.

This is what I thought, I actually like 1-1/8 more than 1-1/4 but Iooking at binghams had me second guessing my self

May depend on riser shape, I don't tho.
Dry run it with a bows worth of parts and the hose. If it is too hard to put together, relieve the top one a bit.

I have only built 4 air hose forms and I used the same method each time. I draw glue surface lines on to form using my template. Then made a line 1 1/4" above that one for lam and hose room. Then I draw lines for the riser. Then I put my metal tiedowns on form and drill the 3/8" bolt holes thru the plywood and straps. I carefully cut 1/8" from the lines and screw template on before running router over the form..check the surface for square and any dips in surface,the form must be perfect, take your time.. I use bondo on any divits, then glue 030 or 040 fiberglass on to top of form for smooth glue surface. Kenny and other guys with awesome skills skip the glass if wood surface is super smooth but I like to use it. So I am removing 1 1/4" of wood from my forms plus the cut out for the riser.. If 1 1/4 is too much then add a wood shim to the top piece of form.. I have posted pics of my KennyM design longbow form here before, it shows the riser cut out, metal straps etc..
