I have been lurking on here for about a year and have now registered and can post so I thought I would introduce myself. I have been an avid duck hunter for the past 20 years and have built boats and carve decoys. That is until thanksgiving in 2014. My brother has hunted with a compound for years but then had a reflex deflex bow made and wanted to go traditional. I shot it when we were visiting and remembered how much fun I had with my recurve when I was kid which I still have. Then it hit me. This guy just made this in his garage! SO the research began and since I have made 5 trilams. The first 2 broke on the tillering tree. The bottom limb lifted a splinter on the 3rd but next 2 have no problems... yet. Now that duck season is coming to an end I plan to build a few more this year. This is great forum with a wealth on information with people willing to share. Don't have any pics of my bows for some reason but will get some soon.

It is funny to hear so many stories start similar to yours. Moving from lurking to crafting. Welcome

I knew you were a duck hunter when I saw your call sign!
Welcome, but be warned, this is very addictive!
I'd love to see some pictures of your boats and dekes, if it's ok with the mods.
Dave.

Since I everybody likes pictures I took a picture of the 2 bows that I have completed. Both are trilams. The short one on the left came in way under weight so I took few inches off the limbs and now my 10yr old son shoots it. It is Hickory Hickory with a bubinga belly. The other one is 40# @29" and is Hickory Hickory with a ipe belly and bubinga for the riser. The lighting in my garage isn't so good so the picture quality could be better.
