Hi
Just started on adding tip overlays on my bow, however some of the epoxy got on the black glass laminate and I had to sand it.

It doesn't look that great, can anything be done to fix it.
In advance thanks

That is a good thing, before you finish the bow sand all of the glass. There is a factory finish on the glass and if you sand it down a little I find your final finish will stick and look better. I normally sand down to around 300-400 grit on glass.

It is a ok. Morris is bang on. You want to sand your fibre glass prior to finishing. It will look rough and kinda gray but no worries. The finish will turn out flawless. It also let's you sand your transitions from glass to overlays absolutely seamlessly. Good luck!

You can get a better transition if you flatten you angle on the overlay. The more you prepare it before you glue it the easier it will be to finish. A trick I use on black glass that has blemishes is to color them with a sharpie. You can play with blending it by rubbing with your finger before it is totally dry. And if you don't like it a bit of acetone will remove it.

Thanks for the tip Mike, it'll come in handy I'm sure.

Also, mask the glass right up to the point where the edge of the tip overlay terminates.

Erik.......
Did you sand the glass before installing the overlays?
-
I'll remember that till next time Mike.
James, yes I sanded the glass in the area to be glued.
