Title: Removing adapter inserts
Post by: Stan Lore on December 25, 2015, 01:13:00 PM
I bought a tackle box full of arrowheads, nocks, inserts, tools,  and other items related to arrow making.   Most of the broadheads had adapter inserts.  I pulled 3 or 4 out but the others won't budge using pliers.   Are inserts glued in as well as screwed in?  How can I remove them?

Thanks

If epoxy was used it will take a lot of heat to remove the insert.

Normally an insert made of aluminum or steel doesn't screw into the head, only glue. Apply some heat to the point and pull the insert out if you can.

Like James said , if epoxy and not hot melt , it takes more heat. Screw into an old arrow to make it easier and use the pliers to grip the broadhead (safer than fingers).

Sometimes a Bic lighter will do it, other times a propane torch is handy.
