I bought a custom 68" deflex-reflex bow and discovered that the string is not aligned with center of limbs. The string notches are unequal both horizontal and vertical. The Bowyer did not want to mess with it since he said it shot good for him. Would it be wise for me to try and work the notches or leave as is? I would not want to overdo it and weaken the limb tips. Thanks for the advise.

Does the string hit your arm? Do the arrows leave clean? That being said. Your bowyers excuse is a very poor one.

You could do a little touch-up with a chainsaw file and possibly straighten things out.
Put a picture of your nocks on this thread so we can see how bad it is and what to do.

As Eric noted pictures will help. Is it a glass bow? What is the draw weight? If need be you could make it a 66" bow and completely re-work the nocks but it would add a little draw weight.

If you have bought it and the nocks aren't cut correctly then return the bow and get your money back. If it's shoddy workmanship just don't accept it.

Return the bow. For a custom bow I'm sure you paid a custom price. You deserve to have at built correctly.

OK. Here are 5 pics of the notches in the limb tips. The tips have overlay on opposite side. The bow is 40 lb and has wood laminate limbs. As far as taking bow back, I did, but he did not think it that bad to mess with it. He has always been good about making me completely satisfied. I've already returned 2 bows. Kunafish if I'm seeing right this is a wood selfbow.
For me I know they are not perfect but not terrible.
How far,off,center,is,the string.
Sometimes on selfbows the string,is off center towards the arrow pass on purpose.
Now if you paid high dollars then maybe send it back.
Touch up would be pretty easy.

They don't look all that bad. The first and second picture shows one string groove not as deep as the other, that would do it. How about a picture of the belly side from tip to tip.

They are too shallow, but otherwise look fine. You can deepen just one and it will shift your string over. Deepen the groove opposite the side you want the string to move towards.

I have new pictures of the bow strung from tip to tip. The picture against the wall is subjective since my camera angle could be off. The others were balanced on my finger. If the limb sides are not even, then the string will drift towards the weaker side. Sure doesn't sound like a custom bow to me. Sounds like crappie work. Can't see the pictures. Try photo bucket.com.

Wow that is no good- It's probably fixable but if your bowyer can't correct it- I'd get my money back...
If you get rid of the period at the end of your link then the pictures work.

I corrected the photo link on my previous post on page 1 if you want to see full length pictures of the bow. I was thinking of fixing the notches myself until the replies about the limb side issue. I'm leaning towards getting my money back. Thanks for your patience. I'm a little green with the social media.

Both limbs twist out. I wasn't aware we are talking a glass 3 piece. Return it and get your money back. Glass bows should be symmetrically perfect, no excuses.

That is very fixable but as others have said and I agree get your money back and return the bow. The fix is going to involve some aggressive tillering beyond just nock adjustment. That bow should not have left the shop in that condition. The fix will also more than likely reduce the overall draw weight a bit.
