Title: Lam Stack order
Post by: Wolftrail on December 06, 2015, 03:41:00 PM
For a Tri-lam bow using Black walnut and Eastern maple would it be better to use the Walnut on the back.?

I'd use the walnut in the center, maple(assuming it is hard maple) on the back if it was flawless of defects and ring and grain runout, and maple on the belly... unless I had some osage or yew laying around, in which case I'd use it on the belly.

Yep Eastern maple is hard maple/sugar maple.  Maple back west is big leaf not good for bows other than Vine maple and Douglas maple.

Maple back, walnut core and maple belly (preferable heat treated pre glue-up)).
