Title: How to increase draw weight
Post by: Doods70 on October 02, 2015, 07:16:00 PM
Greetings. I recently ordered a a samick SKB Korean Traditional Bow at 35 lbs. I was very disappointed when it arrived as it felt very very light at the draw. After measuring, it was less than 35. Is there a way to increase the draw weight? Can I add fiberglass tape of some sort and laminate or use epoxy between the fiberglass tape? Thank you

Personally I would return the bow. I don't believe there is a way to increase the weight except cutting the limbs shorter but because it's a recurve (at least I am assuming it is) I would be hesitant to do that. If you can I would return the bow and/or order a heavy set of limbs.

I have glued thin strips of wood along the entire belly of a bow to increase draw weight and then refinish.

But that was a self wood bow of my own making.

I don't know if it would work on; or if I would dare to try it with a store bought lam bow.

I agree also.
I think if you add fiberglass and epoxy, you may just end up with a heavier bow that doesn't shoot any faster.

I'd send it back too. It might cost you a little but at least you'll have a bow you'll shoot.
