Title: First 3pc T/D done.........
Post by: TX FLY CASTER on August 25, 2015, 12:56:00 AM
After building many one piece bows I decided to give Binghams T/D longbow a shot. I'm pleased with the outcome , hit 44# @ 28" was looking for 45# so not too bad. Cherry limbs with a walnut riser.   (http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz127/dc1502/11949262_879704242112218_991728450221548538_n.jpg) (http://s820.photobucket.com/user/dc1502/media/11949262_879704242112218_991728450221548538_n.jpg.html)    (http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz127/dc1502/11960206_879704562112186_531807758333599321_n.jpg) (http://s820.photobucket.com/user/dc1502/media/11960206_879704562112186_531807758333599321_n.jpg.html)    (http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz127/dc1502/11898622_879704438778865_8313229174319375041_n.jpg) (http://s820.photobucket.com/user/dc1502/media/11898622_879704438778865_8313229174319375041_n.jpg.html)    (http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz127/dc1502/11898625_879704892112153_1394900396925899842_n.jpg) (http://s820.photobucket.com/user/dc1502/media/11898625_879704892112153_1394900396925899842_n.jpg.html)

Very nice! Walnut riser?

If you asked me to be as critical as possible, all I would say is you could lose a tiny bit of mass in the tips by streamlining the overlays a bit, but again, really nice job.

I particularly like the very streamlined riser. Sometimes takedown risers can get bulky but you've done a great job of keeping it sleek.

Yes the riser and wedges are walnut , the limbs are cherry and maple. The glass was the streakiest I have ever seen but I highly doubt the deer I chase will care.I agree need to thin the overlays down some. This is the first takedown that I have built so the next one will be better (second limb is in the oven now....lol) That riser template was not as easy as you would think , I was drawing samples on paper for days trying to get the curves that I wanted. The bow shoots very well. This is off of binghams design. I learned a few things .... The most important  #1 if you order lams for a 64" bow , and you follow their instructions to shorten the 68" original plans ,you will end up at 62" NTN . The original plans actually produce 67" NTN . The second bow from this form is in progress , solid Bubinga riser and wedges , amber boo core under green glass. The colors look great , I'll post some pics soon.

Hi TX!
Great looking bow.
Is it the Pronounced Bow and can you explain the limb - stack?
