I need a new spray gun mine( from Lowes) has too big of a tip (1.3). I need a .08-1.0 tip to spray gloss Thunderbird correctly. Just wondering what you all are using and your results.

I use one of these - Iwata Mini/Midi Gravity Spraygun AZ40 HTE AV
The gun is good but my spray booth leaves a little to be desired!

This year I upgraded from Spray can Spar Urethane to a oil less compressor and spray gun.. I currently use a Sharpe Finex FX1000 mini hvlp with a 1.4 tip and a 4oz cup. I have only sprayed Krystal dull thru it. I was using the purple and silver harbor freight mini hvlp with good success, but I wanted get what I hoped was a better gun so I bought the Finex.. Harbor Freight has a Small 0.80 tip, 4oz cup hvlp gun model #46719 that may be OK?? I really like the Finex gun so far but the cheap Harbor Freight did a good job if I set it up correctly.

Gerald I use a 30.00 dollar home depot " jamb gun" . Gerry Fiegle told me about them said that's what he uses that way when the epoxy clogged it up you can throw it away and you are only out 30 bucks. After I'm done spraying I disassemble the gun and store it in acetone, been using the same gun for 5 years.

Yep, I use a cheap $30 jamb gun, touch up gun, or whatever you want to call it. It does a professional quality job with Thunderbird epoxy finish and will do many bows if cleaned after each use with cheap lacquer thinner. When it breaks or ultimately gets gummed up, I throw it away and go get another.

Ok guys thanks, I just need to find a gun with h a smaller tip.

Will it work to use vinegar to clean up?

The HF #46719 mini HVLP has a 0.80 tip. Its on sale now for less than $40. The Fenix FX1000 can be bought for under $120. One thing about the Finex is you can buy different size tips if needed. Monterey, I'm not sure about the vinegar? Vinegar is acidic and I'm not sure if the metal or seals in a spray gun can hold up to the 5% acetic acid in vinegar. I have been using lacquer thinner to clean my spray guns after spraying Krystal.. if there is something better I am willing to try it.
