I currently use a sander and rasp but it takes atoll on the hands. So how do you all do it mainly for the grips.

Spindle sander and calipers. after a few you get the knack.

I've seen some use hand held spindle sanders. Been thinking of adding one to the kit.

I use a drum sander in a drill some it does help a lot.

I used this on the last bow , bocote riser, didn't plug up much and I bet if I ran it in reverse on some maple it would clean right out.
Its a tire repair tool for grinding before the patch. Think it was less than 5 bucks when I bought it several years back, wish I'd tried it sooner.
I put a carriage bolt in it with a washer and nut to hold it.
Run it slow or fast, no prob and it really shapes stuff. I imagine it would shape fingers too, so be careful if you try it! :D
