Title: Inset question.

I'm in the process of finishing up a bamboo, padauk, bamboo tri-lam and I was thinking of insetting a tiny compass into the riser.
The question is where on the riser is the best place. I have two sizes of compass I can use. The bigger one is 5/8" diameter by 3/16" deep and the smaller is 3/8" by 3/16".
They are brass bodied with glass lenses and are air dampened and designed as survival compasses, so they are robust and work well.
Possible locations I was thinking of are the heel of the grip in which case, I would turn the bow upside down to read the compass, or the off side of the grip in the wood of the riser.
The upper part of the riser is another possibility, but there is less wood there than the lower part.
Has anyone done this on a bow?

I've thought about doing that too.  I think I would put it on the off side of the riser, near the bottom, or the lower part.  Seems to make the most sense there to me anyway.  It wouldn't get in the way of your hand.

I've put a couple on bows. I put them on the bottom side of the riser- on the left side for a right handed bow.

Thanks guys. That's about where I'm leaning toward. I'll post a picture when it's done.
