Title: Laminations

Heres a head scratcher.
I have built bows with a taper and a parallel and I have built "the same bow"
Using just tapers. All else being equal.

It seems to me that the bow with the parallel just has a better feel.

Stack wise and taper wise there is no difference.
What do you think on the matter??

I would say the bow with the parallel has a more even bend in the limbs.

I think the best-suited degree of thickness taper, if any, depends on other relevant design parameters, and what one expects from the bow. There are many things that you didn't mention that would weigh heavily on what I thought.

Not sure what those parameters might be.
I'm just speaking from a stack thickness is stack thickness and the taper rate is the same frame of mind.
For example, you can use two .001 tapers at a given stack or a .002 taper and a par to do the same thing..
I agree with Roy. To me it would seem so and I even like to try for 1/3 par on the belly side as a ratio. Veneers change that a bit.
I maybe wrong hence the question.
