Looks really primitive, a cool unique spin on it. So its glass on the back...? What thickness is the glass..? do you have a full draw pic.? :coffee:
-
Very nice!
-
yes... glass on the back... just to keep veneer in one piece... unprocessed glass is 1mm
(http://upload.ecvv.com/upload/Product/20118/China_glassfiber_chopped_strand_mat20118101114551.JPG)
i have applied it with epoxy.
i could not find bow glass around here in turkey :(
i do not have full draw pic since i can not take pic while full drawing :D
thanks..

hi Beyaz,
bow looks really great- love the cord wraps.
just one pointer,
that chopped strand matt does not have any real structural integrity- the fibers are short- and the air spaces( voids) between the fibers suck up a lot of resin.
i know thats probably all you can get there- sourcing materials in some places can be real tough- but a unidirectional glass will work better
like this https://www.google.ca/search?q=image+of+unidirectional+glassfibre&rlz=1C1CHMZ_enCA406&espv=2&biw=1455&bih=726&tbm=isch&imgil=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%253BE2PwVGf5wWBErM%253Bhttp%25253A% 25252F%25252Fwww.hiwtc.com%25252Fproducts%25252Fe-glass-unidirectional-fabric-333851-38308.htm&source=iu&pf=m&fir=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%252CE2PwVGf5wWBErM%252C_&usg=__NJ_k66fh3o43lV8 kp3261f3-its%3D&ved=0CDQQyjc&ei=7XVHVd1siMaiBOfAgbAN#imgrc=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%3BE2PwVGf5wWBErM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.hiwtc.com%252Fphoto%252Fproducts%252F27%252F03%252F83%252F3 8308.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.hiwtc.com%252Fproducts%252Fe-glass-unidirectional-fabric-333851-38308.htm%3B610%3B458 (https://www.google.ca/search?q=image+of+unidirectional+glassfibre&rlz=1C1CHMZ_enCA406&espv=2&biw=1455&bih=726&tbm=isch&imgil=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%253BE2PwVGf5wWBErM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.hiwtc.com%25252Fproducts%25252Fe-glass-unidirectional-fabric-333851-38308.htm&source=iu&pf=m&fir=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%252CE2PwVGf5wWBErM%252C_&usg=__NJ_k66fh3o43lV8kp3261f3-its%3D&ved=0CDQQyjc&ei=7XVHVd1siMaiBOfAgbAN#imgrc=VGvd5OCmYkUKbM%253A%3BE2PwVGf5wWBErM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.hiwtc.com%252Fphoto%252Fproducts%252F27%252F03%252F83%252F38308.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.hiwtc.com%252Fproducts%252Fe-glass-unidirectional-fabric-333851-38308.htm%3B610%3B458)
or even a woven glass- fibers in boath directions- will work better than the chopped strand mat(csm)- even though the short cross fibers- wont be doing any work-- but they will hold it together on the bow.
or maybe separate the woven bi directional cloth into long strands, and apply like sinew with epoxy- just one nice thin layer!
i think that would work well!!
cheers

Howdy Beyaz,
you can try to make a glass laminate from fiberglass roving and epoxy glue.
-
thanks fujimo... i have tried those as well... this time i want to try this type of glass and found out that as you mensioned, sucks up lots of resin. well will not try again...
oth, this type also is not gets full transparency. so i have lost the beauty of the veneer underlying... well, experience is the best teacher.
bakh: i made bow glass but not with epoxy. with polyester. it did not worked well as well. next time i will try to make it with epoxy :D
in here, boat workers are mixing epoxy with fiber glass powder for gluing the fiber glass. they said this gives more durability to fibers.
what do you think using this on the bow?
best.

btw:
just for the information:
i have bankcrupted on the business of fish counting machine. since in here there is a lot of economical low blow. i am looking for a new job. i do not know if i need to change my living place or not.
