Title: Martin Serengeti?
Post by: Oliverstacy on March 05, 2008, 01:24:00 PM
I did a search and could find much on this bow...probably why it's not listed in the 2008 catalog.

Just wondering in anyone has a Martin Serengeti?  I handled and shot one a year ago and liked it.  I have a line on a new one for a decent price.  I did like it at the time but went with the Savannah since I ultimately wanted a longbow.

This bow is basically identical to the Savannah in material make up, Bubinga and Zebrawood...it is the recurve version of the Savannah or vise versa.  I always thought down the road if I ever came across a new one or good used one I'd consider it.  They were close to $600 new but if I could get it for about half that would it be worth it?

Thanks,

Josh

Josh, a Serengeti for $300 is a really good deal!  I'd go for it if I were you.

Shot both liked the Savannah better, best grip I ever felt on a longbow, even better than grips on bows I had custom made to my hand...go figure.

Savannah was smoother drawing also.  If your looking for a one piece recurve you'll be hard pressd to find one better off the shelf or custom.

I called Martin to get information on customizing bows.  I was told that the Serengeti didn't catch on like they hoped so it's being discontinued.

I absolutely love my Savannah...the grip fits my hand so nice I'm having a hard time finding another longbow I like. I guess if you shoot a different one long enough you'd like the grip after a while...maybe.

I like the Serengeti a lot but just couldn't afford one last year but like the way it feels in my hand. Also since I really like the wood combination of the Savannah and the Serengeti is the same it's almost a now brain'r.
