Title: duplex shafts
Post by: Dave Lay on March 05, 2008, 10:45:00 AM
anyone know what aluminum shafts will fit inside another shaft ? I have never messed with carbon and really dont care to, but the good doctor ashby  has me all messed up (with very good info) life was alot simpler before I knew anything about FOC and such things. I killed a BUNCH of critters with my old 2020 and 2216's over the years. BUT since I am at work and thinkin about this instead, has anyone ever did a duplex shaft in the front portion only of a ALUMINUM shaft? I know folks are doing a footing on carbons but I want to try a internal sleeve on a aluminum...
thanks for the help  Dave

Subtract 2 times the wall thickness from the shaft diameter to get the inside diameter. Example for a 2216

((22/64)-(2*16/1000))*64 = 19.952

Therefore a 19XX shaft is the largest shaft that will fit into a 2216.

I only shoot wood, but it ocurrs to me that 6-8 in of aluminum won't have nearly as much effect as 6-8 inches if purple heart or wenge.
