Decided to name the bow "IKLWA" The Iklwa was the very effective short handled killing spear used by the Zulu nation in the time of King Shaka.

Why --  Because on the second shot out of this bow it promptly killed the first arrow at fifteen yards

beautiful work willem. love the name!!
know why they called it the iKlwa?

it has always amazed me as such an amazingly descriptive language

Wayne Thank you. If the bow could speak it would probably say "Ngadla" which means "I've eaten" and which was said every time a Zulu warrior used his iKwla on a enemy

that is one very cool bow- do you have a chronograph, just out of interest- I don't put my faith in fps- but just as a comparison to your normal RD bow.
does the forward riser feel any different to shoot?
they really have grabbed my interest!
cheers

Wolftrail, no the glass is .042 back and belly and the zebrano lams is .030. Taper is .002 boo and .001 boo so total taper .003

I'd say iKlwa is right!  That's some deadly accuracy!

Out of personal curiosity, is the iKlwa the same as the assegai, or is it another spear?  I've used the assegai in martial arts training, and I could easily see how incredibly useful it is.

Wayne the chrono results for what it's worth.

My drawlenght 27" the arrow weight 490 grain.
Forward riser 55#@28" so about 52#@27"

The recurve decurve same weight bow same arrows

Halfseminole yes it is an assegai but very short hafted to bring the zulu warrior in close contact with the enemy. Very interesting history on this particular fighting spear. The iKwla was King Shaka's own introduction and the discipline and courage needed to make it the effective weapon it was, was immense. His warplans and strategies compared well with big strategists with hundreds of years of experience behind them. Read Shaka Zulu by E.A. Ritter

what do you notice are the significant differences?
