Post by: mikebr549 on March 05, 2015, 11:22:00 AM
Hello just wondering if their are any of yall down here around Fredericksburg Texas?  Really interested in recurve building I have only watched youtube videos so far is anyone within a couple of hours or so from me that would be willing to give me some guidance.   This is a great web site I visit here often but I think this is my first post.  Thanks Mike

I'm nowhere close to Fredericksburg, but you might want to check out Binghams.  They have kits, instructions, and supplies.

Hope this helps!

jus' fergit it!!
all the tools, the hours and hours of work, lost fingertips, skinned knuckles, broken bows and heartache- wives complaining you stink of glue and wood dust, your sex life plummeting- cos you spend more time in the shop than attending to you conjugal duties!!
just buy a bow a week, its way cheaper!

jus kidding fella- bow building is all of the above- but the good outweighs the toil and sweat- its an awesome journey.
the only thing I can tell you from experience, is just jump in the deep end- and stay on the bench here- there are a great bunch of folks here, that will spend a lot of time helping you, even with the smallest and simplest of tasks- alls yer gotta do , is asks!

first thing you need to do, the most important skill with bow building......... is learn how to post pics on here- and fire the questions!!

binghams are a great place to start- get all the stuff for your first form: brackets , air hoses etc etc
then add to it with other designs.
good luck
cheers
