I have a small osage stave drying for my brothers self bow. He is young, and therefore short. I was wondering what size you all would suggest. Im guessing ill shoot for 20-25 pound draw weight for now.

I would still make it long. 58 to 60.
Depends on your plans for the bow. Flatbow? Flipped tips? What's his draw length? My son is almost 9 and currently has a 22" draw.

Well, that depends on how it looks when I get the bark and sap wood off. I was going through bowyers bible and while a lot people say to not disturb the ring on the back, you can as long as you maintain absolute parallel rings and that they are the same thickness when de-crowning. I think I may have to do that if it seems like it may not be able to handle being thinner in the limb. Its only a 5-6" log.
I make a lot of kids bows and most are in the 60 inch range.
If a youngin is say 48 inches tall when he/she is holding the bow standing that is not too long and will slow them to grow and still use it.
9 yr old if not slight of build I suggest 20 pounds @ 24 inches.

Sounds good. This will be the first bow ive made Im guessing, unless I get a bow of my own floor tillered and quick dried that way first. I can always make him another one that is of much better quality. I learn through doing and seeing that through reading so I expect to mess up a little... :)
