Title: Bow Doc
Post by: oberon on March 05, 2008, 12:33:00 AM
I keep reading of the Bow Doc.  From what I read he does repairs and refinishing on Bows?  How do you contact him?

I've contacted him twice and gotten very good results. I've tried to contact him 3 other times and have not been so lucky. Heard that he just purchased a new PC and possibly lost a bunch of eMails! If you can get an answer from him, you can expect the best advice available.

Thanx much guys,
I have a Frank SanMarco longbow that I got from Frank 18 or 19 years ago. Still looks and shoots great but have noticed a lot of very fine horizontal stress lines on the belly, Looks like it is in the finish on both limbs. Does not appear to go into the glass.  Very fine lines can barely feel them with  a fingernail.  Will try and get in touch with Frank first, but looking for other bow re finishers just in case.  I am in Oregon so the Bow Doc is in my neck of the woods.

The Blacktail recurve Bowdoc restored for me is listed under "Bowdoc gives life to Blacktail".  His work is truly great. I got up this morning and had to go in and take another look to make sure I wasn't dreaming! If he is willing I will ask for his talents again.

Oberon, I live in Eugene. If you are up this way let me know ahead of time and you can see it in person if you like...or if you have too many turkeys down there I will bring it down for you to shoot... :0)

I will shoot a few photos of my longbow today and see if I can figure out how to upload to photo bucket.  Bow Doc , I guess that I could send them direct to you if you wish to pm me with your email, at least that would let you see them sooner.

First time to use photo bucket, hope that this works. Sometimes I feel like a bit of a dim bulb with this computer stuff, after all I am a blacksmith and no wiz kid with electronics
