Title: small game video
Post by: coyote Tim on February 08, 2007, 12:14:00 AM
I'm looking for a small game video, something just about going outin the  woods and having fun!   squirrel, rabbit, ground hog,  maybe pheasant and upland foul.  and throw in some bowfishing.

I'm really want a video thats different, not your run of the mill big game video.

is anybody else feeling the same?

I would like to see a video of hunters just getting back to the basics,   :campfire:   Stump shooting , shooting the bull, cooking up all those rabbit and squirrels over a campfire.

Maybe if GOD would bless me with a video camera.   :archer:

Man, I know what your talkin about. I could really rant about this but I'll bite my lip.   :banghead:   . I always thought dan fitzgerald did an awsome job on his video of Grand slammin small game and predators. I had it but just sold it. If you can find that one, Its a good one just like you described. All with a wheely bow, he aint shootin stumps but he does practice on round bails,3d tartgets, ground hogs, rabbits, fox, coyote, jack rabbits, porcupines, coons, a mouse, snakes, and he shows you how to cook it all. He's got a heck of a way to light they old barbecue too.

I like the Fitzgerald videos. They have good ethics and show more than just a kill shot. They show the completion with a cooking segment. Dan Fitzgerald I beleive has some older clips with using a longbow. I'd like to get my hands on them if I could find em'. They did one show on hunting ground hogs and then how to cook them. Most people shoot those and toss the carcass. I've never tried woodchuck, but I probably will next time I get one because of that segment. BTW there was one show were Dan F. shot a carribou at 70yds. He ws using a compound but instinctivly shooting. Thats impressive to me.
My daughter and i are going to film some small game hunts. I'll post them in the members section when I get some good footage.

That's a good idea.  I am sure there is somebody here with the capabilities to make one.  Why can't everyone make and send in a short segment hunt or shooting tips etc.  You know 10mins or so and then they could be editited into a video.  i would surely pay for something like that.

Before a project such as this is started permission from Terry and Rob, owners of TradGang, would have to be received, and it would need to conform to the guidelines they provide. There are copyright considerations involved here that need to be addressed by Terry and Rob.

I have offered to do the editing, menu design, graphics, and create the master, but only if this were a TradGang approved and supported project.

Tom Mussatto How do I contact Terry and/or the proper people to find out if the tradgang folks can contribute footage of hunting everything from small game to big game to shooting tips etc to make a video.  I think it's great idea.  It wouldn't have to go public we could sell it for cost to make it or a little more and sell it to tradgang members and donate the profits to a good cause(that has to do with the hunting community).

I think it should stay simple, regular folks here on the tradgang.  Stump shooting, shooting tips, tree rats, birds, rabbits, hogs.  everything heck if it worked out it could turn into a volume thing.  I mentioned earlier that the proceededs could go to a good cause(archery related) but like coyote tim mentioned give it back to the website that we all visit and love.  Lets get started folks as mentioned above we need to get permission of some kind and someone here who could pull it off(putting all the footage together).

I see threads like this all the time where we want to see vids like this, well lets make it happen.

what SASKBUSHMAN said, keep it simple and to the point,
Tom Mussatto has our backs for the video editing and all that other stuff,
shoo imma love being a contributing member!!!

plus we need the hunters,
hunters that can promise thier time to make a nice small game and stumping clip.

but we need permission is what we need first!!!!!!

We just bit the bullet and said that if we didnt do it now, then we prolly never would. We are gonna break it in on ferals this weekend and then weekend after next we are heading to laredo to chase javies, bunnies, and predators.

Unfortunatly I have no rabbit spot :*(. However, in august I WILL be going after some tree rats. Tough that time a month. Thick as the dickens, and they are all in the tree's still. Either way, I will try. If I dont get anything then, I will try again during shotgun season somtime when they are on the ground and the picken's is easy. Either way, I would be able to provide some great footage of some misses if it will help the cause lol.

Dan did make a trad video he took game with a recurve and even wacked a rat with a longbow can't remember the name of the video. Anybody out there remember it? Plus he never had sites on his wheely bow if I remember correctly. He and Bob Foulkrod made some wild ones for sure.

We broke in the XL2 yesterday. We were sneakin into our pig stand and spotted a opposum before we got there. Needless to say, i was out of arras before we ever got to the stand  :)  We did get some cool footage though of the first shot. He was up on the side of a tree. I shot for the 10 ring at about 20 yds. Arrow missed so closely that we thought it passed through him and stuck in a tree behind him. Apparently he did too cause he did a nice little dying sequence on the side of the tree. Looked just like he was about to crumple off the tree. His little game of oppusum had us fooled. Made for some sweet video, but trashed a razorcap in a tree. Snapped the ferul into trying to pull it out. Blades are still in perfect shape though.....in the tree. lol.
