Title: Ash board bow - temper?
Post by: Knoll on December 20, 2014, 08:27:00 PM
I'm in midst of tillering an ash board into a bow.  Objective is 35-38# @ 29".  Bow is 65" ntn with glue-on 9" riser and glue-on static curved tips.  Am now at 27" draw, 6 1/2" brace, and 39# pull.

Have about 1 1/2" set.  So considering heat tempering some reflex into this stick.  But a bit concerned about the combo of lotsa heat and the glue lines at fades and tips.

Advice from those who have tried tempering boards with glue lines would be most appreciated.

Wrap tin foil around the fade and point the gun away from them.
Your bow is short for the draw length so some set is to be expected.
