Title: wormy chestnut

I was given a very nice pcs of this,thought I would use it as a backing, Has anyone done this?and what wood would it work with,I have black walnut, red oak,maple and cherry. Thanks Burt

Anything you use for backing should have the ultimate in structural integrity, don't think wormy chestnut will meet this criteria.

Use it for a riser. X's 2 on what Eric said.

Thanks Guy's that's why I asked,It"s a full 2 1/4" thick and came out of a house demo,Painted bright white trim color. I ran it through the planer to clean it up and it will make sweet risers..Thanks again Burt
