Anyone ever use paper based phenolic as top wedges or power lam's? Just wondering if it would be to rigid.
If so how thick would you go .06, .125 or even thicker?

Also how much weight gain can I expect to out of 5" tip wedges and a power lam 4" past riser fades?

It weighs too much you can get a better performance boost with light weight walnut,

From what I know phenolic is not suppose to bend after glue up. :)
If you put it in a situation where it will bend it will fell.
I wanted to use it in a limb wedge and was told not to.
Phenolic is to keep things from bending
I think I'am right on this.

What about glass? Say .05?
If you use wood how thick do you guys choose?

The basic idea is to keep your limb tips as lightweight as possible.

if you are looking use synthetics in the layup--use uniweft or g-10--phenolic IMO has extremely sketchy gluing properties-prone to failures -is relatively weak in thin pieces
my advice is to use wood---for tip wedges I use .020"x9"with a.002 taper-placed in the layup on layout marks-while letting the thick end run wild out of the end of the form
for power lams you will have to experiment with tapers and length--remember the effect on limb action is more the thickness change and location [inboard/outboard] in the limb than the material used--although IMO when adding anything to a limb it is always to think lighter is better!

Maybe not exactly a power lam but here are a couple reverse riser Hill's I've built using phenolic to strenghten the riser and run into the fades. I have been very happy with the results and the way they shoot. They run 14-1/2" fade to fade.
