My buddy Jake came down yesterday for a bit of shooting, alot of eating and a long snowshoe into one of my remote hunting spots to rescue 2 gorilla's that were left up after bow season ended Dec. 31st.
It was a good day, Jake's binding broke :help: about 1/3 of the way in, so we Rube Goldberg'ed him a temp. job and away we went. ;)
I went in a different way than normal and used my new Garmin to find the stand.
Soon it was beeping and I looked up at the stand; GPS units, call me a believer! :)
We got the stands, and sweated our way back out.
Arwen joined us for a shoot on my range and she was shooting great with the bow and stuff you folks sent her. :clapper:
Here we are, Beauty and the BEASTS...LOL

Hap...always have a spare set in my pack. :bigsmyl:
Mornin Cary, been thinkin bout GPS myself not that I'm worried about gettin lost but sometimes in the dark in the swamp it's pretty easy to miss a stand.
Besides extra batteries I like to carry more than 1 compass.....seems it's easy to loose one LOL
Looks like fun! Nice way to beat cabin fever for sure.
Cary seems like a beautiful place to live. Great to see Arwen's smiling. LQQks like your family has made a great peace within her soul. :clapper:
Alil hint it lQQks like her quiver is on the wrong side. :D
Yep-------the Rose between the thorns-lol----Lon.
Had to back peddle a bit to see who the young lady was, seems I missed that one.Ya done good Cary though I'm not surprised that the 2 of you took your daughters friend in like that.Heck Kelly drove out to get us and brought complete strangers form another country back to her home.My daughter remembers the forest witch LOL and wish's to come up with me again for the carpalooza.Hopefully that'll work out.
Take care my northern brother I'll be in touch
Tom,
You'll never regret a GPS. Compasses and a map are nice, but still not as accurate as a GPS.
I was 10 yards from the stand in thick cedars, coming in a way that I had never gone before; and it was beeping like mad. :)
I got it for moose hunting, up there, if you get lost, you are done and dead. :(
It is handy for waypointing your stands, and if you get a deer down, after you find and dress it; just punch in your stand and it will take you right back to where you started, no fuss, no muss. :)
I'm betting you'll be up here again. Check the Trad events Tom for the Ontario Longbow Rendezvous that I am hosting the 3rd weekend in April.

Sounds like a great time and a great way to beat cabin fever, which I got bad.
I've got a gps in the car, really can't beat it.
I'll look into that Cary,if I remeber the regulations correctly you can bow fish for northern's in April I'll hafta double check but I'm pretty sure unless they changed it since I was up there
No bowfishing for ANY gamefish in my region of ONT. Tom... :(
but you can still come, camp and shoot for the weekend!
BD ;)
Wanna bet LOL I saw it in the reg's last time I was up.I was surprised myself.Remember I looked it up to see if I could shoot those bull heads?? It wasn't legal when we where there but I'm alomost positive in April it was a go.I don't have the reg's right here but I'll see if I can find them, they came with the licence when I bought it
I think in some areas of ON. you can Tom, not in my region though.
More north maybe?
Check anyways, you never know.
;) ;)
Looks like you guys, gal, had a great time! Yep,those GPS are handy,I always have mine in my catquiver, who knows.
