Title: Reprofiled riser- question
Post by: beendare on March 18, 2014, 08:01:00 PM
I just reprofiled a Black Creek riser and I was hoping to replicate the finish, does anyone know what they used [out of biz]? I cannot post pics here- wish I could.

The riser is mostly Cocobolo- [I think-when sanded its almost orange]- with the finish on it, it turned almost a burgundy color- which I didn't like. What can I do to have the finish more of a brown tone- stain it, tint the finish?

So finish wise, I have a Morrison riser that is worn smooth/shiny. I'm looking for something more of a satin that has better wear properties, what do you think?

Any comments on staining or tinting that cocobolo or tips on what to use or not to use before I finish that riser?

Looks like it was Krystal on the original finish...thx Steve

I have a Black Creek that the riser is turning shiny on. I am also searching for a matte finish to match the rest of the bow. If I come up with an answer, I'll let ya know.

Get a can of minwax fast dry spray poly in satin.

Hold it back from the bow about 16" and let the spray " roll" onto the bow. Gives it a slightly textured look/feel.
