Hi Tradgangers!
Ive just discovered a bit of a problem!! (see Picture)

How can i get under there to get some glue in there??
I imagine that getting epoxy in there would be an uphill struggle.
Liquid CA glue seems to soak up into everything quite well! Would that be sufficient??
My question is rather how would i get it open to get glue al the way in??
Any help would be amazing! would really love to rescue this!

Looks like a starved glue joint, may have been caused by low pressure or not enough epoxy during glue up.
You may get some ca thin to creep in by sanding the side and applying glue. Is it just in the riser/non working part of the bow? If so maybe you would be better served covering it up with some overlays. As long as the spots aren't growing you should be OK, if they are growing and continue down the limb it will eventually fail.

did that glass lift while sanding/filing the edges, make sure you always file down the taper, and from glass towards the lams- but i guess you know that now. :D
dont ask how i know what lifted glass looks like :knothead:
i would honestly try as Cory says- you can get different viscosities of ca glue- from a good model shop- get the "thin" one

I definitely used enough epoxy!! It was a huge goopy mess! haha
I've been shooting it a little, and i was looking at it inside, and noticed it.
it is in the non bending section. i guess it might bend a little...
I don't think it was there before and has just started....
the only thing i guess was too much pressure... i used tyre tube method.

What breed is the wood under the glass, is it an oily wood, how did you clean it before the glue up? I doubt you had to much pressure with the tire tube method although I've never done it that way.
You can try earlier suggestions but if say 100 shots and its to the point its at now its probably not gonna survive. Don't get discouraged, if your gonna build em your gonna break em.

i think half the problem was that bear paw glass is worse quality than i thought. there is fiber streaks all through it!
also like fujimo said, i was probably to rough when filing the edges of the glass.
as to the rubber band method... there is quite a bit of pressure on the outside or edges. but it was a bit wide when it came out of the form, and at that point in the handle its quite far in..
hm,
well I've clamped above it and lifted the glass a little with a blade and put some ca glue in there. that seemed to go in nicely, so well see what happens!

I keep a couple of unused hypodermic needles that a doctor friend gave me when they passed their use by date. They can get glue into some pretty inaccessible spots.

Here's a novice question... Could you heat that area a small amount before adding the CA? My thought being that the heated area would draw the CA into the void.

Maybe a syringe with a thin needle if you know anyone that has diabetes, and get some Loctite 454 adhesive or something similar that will not dry instantly like Crazy glue does and maybe inject a little Adhesive in the are if you can find a needle small enough without forcing the glass to lift any more. that is what I would try or maybe mix up a small amount of smooth on and the heat it up into a liquid form if it is possible and inject a small amount into area.

I'd try to seep some thin glue in there.
I guess if I was really worried I'd think about wrapping it.
Maybe an overlay....

I was thinking about doing an overlay.. but how close to the fades can it be glued on?

Keep them far enough away from where the fades flex or they may come loose.
