I have an older aluminum tree stand that attaches to the tree w/ a strap instead of a chain. I noticed the strap starting to get worn and would like to replace it. Problem is the company is out of business and the only other replacement strap I find on the market is the one made by Gorilla, that wont work.
I thought about taking it to a tent and awning place and seeing if they would sow me one up. I dearly hate to part w/ the stand because it is so light and set up is a breeze in the dark. Any other ideas or suggestions. Thanks!!
Do you have a pic of the stand so we can see it? Maybe a ratchet strap from the hardware store?
I put chains on my stands. If you use a chain link that has the screwhead and sliding nut on the link; they work really well; and you can put them right where the web attached. I use another of the links for the other end of the chain; and keep an extra link with me; in case I drop one when putting the stand up.
If your set on web straps; then look into seat belts. You can buy used straps from a junk yard; and they can work really well ( especially compared to tent/awning approach.
Don't use anything your not 1000 % sure of!!!
and don't make it too easy for the strap to come loose!
That is why I like chains. I paint them to darken them. When you buy chain- buy the chain links - so you know they are the right size..

I don't see why you can't have similar webbing sewn in to replace the worn length. My wife buys it for sewing packs for me all the time.
I have one very similar and I just cut the strap off and use a ratchet strap. Ben
Just order a strap from Lone Wolf. I use them on all my stands.
