My Quebec Bear Quest 08 silver bullet for spring bears. I didn't etch it as it came out with a nice suttle appearance. It has a 25 degree edge and finished at the weight I normally shoot...225gr. Now I just need to get going on a beautiful Osage character stave John Scifres sold me...got til end of June to complete my hunting attire. Doc

DANG that's sweet...a Scifres stave in the hands of an artist...can't wait to see the rest of the set up....Nice job Tippit, as usual.
The bears would stay in the dens until July if they had internet access Doc.
Awesome work, as always, Doc!
Beautiful! That will sure get the job done on a blackie. What kind of arrow is going to guide it?
Whip, It will be a wood arrow now that Woody has shown me be how to mount them. With an Osage selfbow, just one step up the evolutionary path from last years stone point ;) Doc
Well maybe 2 steps since it is Damascus :D
That is GORGEOUS!

TGMM Family of the Bow
COOL!! Should be weight forward arra, huh?
Dr Ashby, I never would have thought to do this without All your dedication and hard work! Thank you...Doc
kennym, I normally shoot 200-235 grain up front. I'll have to see how it flyes. But for Bears, they will usually be close and drop off shouldn't be a big problem. The extra punch should be worth it.
Way to go Doc! I'm sure any bear would be proud to succumb to that tip. Great work as usual.

Jeffery, very good buddy, Im pulling for ya !!!!Marco#78
That is a nice looking head. I've always liked the look of Damascus.
Outstanding! Gorgeous! Beautiful Damascus pattern!
Nice looking head Doc. Interested in seeing the pics when you mount it.
When do you start producing them for the market? :D In all seriousness....beautiful.
That's one beautiful head Doc! ;) Thanks for sharing!
Nigel
Very, very nice! What is the width, length & thickness of that blade?
Sweet , nice work Doc :0)
I decided she needed a little more color if she were going to grace one of Ted's arrows.

I mounted her with dental floss just to see how well she spun...perfect. Last summer I had picked up a 1/2 dozen Raptor arrows on the blanket. I couldn't believe my luck in finding my friend's perfect footed arrows  What's even funnier, there was a broken shaft at the TX Sweat that Ted had used on his bowyer hunt...same arrow! Gotta be some mojo there...I hope  Doc

So pretty.
Beautiful head Doc. How did you get the color?
Buckhammer,
Those are just tempering colors. She'll lose those when the action gets heavy :)
Wow again Doc. Cant wait to see that green arrow turned red.
I remember your excitement when you found those arrows, Doc. I remember you saying "It'll take just the right point to finish them off". I'd say you "found" the right point. Very nice my friend!
great work cant wait for the hero pics with the big bear that will bloody that arrow
wow!!! jeff that looks sharp
Yogi is already calling the taxidermist so you get that part of the job done right too! What is your back-up head in case you mmmmm......?
owlbait, I use a three arrow bow quiver bear hunting. Right now this forged head and Woody's knife river flint head will be in my quiver, unless I can get Woody to knap me a Green head to match my arrows ;) One needs to be color coordinated in the bear woods! Doc

Doc, That's just awesome bud!
Maybe we get together on a snakeskin arrow for St. Judes......
Superb Jeff  That is a beauty!!
Almost to pretty to be worthy :notworthy: Brent
Stunning Jeff, simply stunning. :readit:
Jeff,
Neat head, my friend. I have your head you sent me in my quiver....just waiting for the right piggie to come along.
"kennym, I normally shoot 200-235 grain up front. I'll have to see how it flyes. But for Bears, they will usually be close and drop off shouldn't be a big problem. The extra punch should be worth it."
Jeff, hope you didn't take that wrong. I love close shots,I meant it would penetrate like crazy!! Should have said just that! :knothead:
Please tell us how it works when you get to use it!!
Jeff, you are a Master Craftsman! Truly a work of art!
You been busy Doc! Tob job m' friend
Way cool!!!
Jeff, that is a work of art. How did you attach it to your shaft?
Arrowslinger,
You mount the head the same way as a stone point. I cut a slot with my bandsaw (you can do it by hand) to slide the tang of the point in. Then you'd epoxy and wrap (dental floss, sinew, etc) around the slot to bind everything together.
I once had had a compound shooter Robin hood a self nock that was wrapped the same way. The wrap kept the compound arrow from splitting my arrow. It only mushroomed the self nock. I was pretty impressed with the strength that wrap gave to the wood arrow...Doc
Looks great but isn't it technically a barbed head, which are illegal in many states?
Sorry just curious,
Mark

Doc, how much work could a loincloth be??? :notworthy:
Nice Jeff!!!!!
Beautiful work you do. I'd love to see and learn more about it. I'm fairly new around here where can i find more of your work?
Mark, I was wondering when someone would catch that! It's just barely barbed...very easy to change wing angles pending where it is used. I left as much steel to see what my final weight would come out to. We looked hard at the regs in Quebec last year to make sure some of our stone points were legal too...Doc
Absolutely beautiful! Why don't you bring some of the broadheads you have made to the PBS banquet. I, and I'm sure many others, would like to see them.

The french bears are in big trouble! Awesome heads Doc, should do the job just right.
Looks like I got to forge up at least another one! I normally shoot LW feathers...But when I looked at Ted's arrow today, I realized it was Right Wing feathers
It's funny as I kept telling myself over & over...get the correct bevel on the edge :knothead: Doc
Wow Doc those are beautiful, nice work.
Doc, your in luck, I shoot left wing :bigsmyl:
