Gonna make my third 'glass bow a mild R/D. Just can't decide what kind of wood for riser and what color 'glass. I used the brown from 'ole kennym and it was gorgeous. So what do you folks like? Please include as many pics as you can. I love checking out your bows. This is your chance to show off. You guys do have bragging rights...... :campfire:

Really, I guess I like them all. My last couple bows for myself have used colored glass to give them a classic look. Here's a couple, but probably my favorite is the one I made with a cocobolo riser, black glass on the back and clear glass on the belly - the best of both the colored and clear glass options.

Beauties John, thanks.

very, very nice!!

Very sleek indeed!. I also seem to prefer black glass on back wand clear with veneers on belly though I made one with brown glass all round I liked.

Right now I'm a bit partial to black glass on yew...

Excuse the crummy phone pic. It needs a couple more coats and a handle wrap, but I think I'm in love.

Gotta love black glass.....

Clear glass with interesting grain underneath is gorgeous! Although, I have an r/d longbow with brown glass that looks pretty nice, too!

Gotta have clear glass or I end up painting it camo........

I like clear glass with some crazy grain veneers.

sweet splice.

I will use any glass as long as it is clear glass....or clear glass. It can be frustrating at times to build a bow with beautiful wood and see a minor streak here or there, but I quickly overlook that to see the beauty of the wood beneath.
I have never seen a perfect bow, woman (don't look at men ), deer, shotgun, dog, etc, etc. They all have their blemishes. Heck, one of my favorite critters are wart hogs. They have a face that only a mother could be tolerant of but I sure do like em.

I fully agree with BigJim. I don't mind the color of the glass as long as it's clear. I have used some black glass lately but it didn't fully convince me. A piece of wood is something so simple but it's pure beauty and it's kind of sad to cover it up with black/brown or whatever colored glass.

X4. Pacific yew under clear glass is my favorite but there are a lot of other pretty ones too...
