ive got a bow that i put a torges patch in a few inches out of the fades in a working portion of the limb. probably close to a thousand shots and i can now feel the front and back edges of it with a finger nail. under a magnifying glass you can see the glue line has cracked just at the front and back edge of the patch. it looks to be only shallow... and you still can't feel the edges on the sides.
If i superglue and wrap over the whole patch with sinew or strong thread do you think i can continue shooting it without worry? i could grind out the patch and glue in a new one, it wouldn't be the first time, but i don't really want to if i don't have to. really want to keep shooting it cause its the best shooter i got.

yea.. i had the same with a patch i had mid limb on my favourite bow- after a while the edges could be felt- left it as is for the moment, as i am now shooting my "new" glass bows- but i think for me a re-patch and a wrap would be prudent- and will do so when i get back to shooting that snakel old osage bow.- i think you're spot on with your wrap idea.

very nice- colour blends right in!

Yeah the color is perfect. Especially once the bow darkens a bit. I really like this stuff. I was lookin around my shop for a good thread to wrap it with and seen that old flac jacket. Really impressive fiber. Wondering about making a string out of it.

I thought I saw a discussion once about kevlar not liking UV exposure very well?
-
Rob... Haven't heard that.... However i do think those vests are supposed to be taken out of service after some time. Ill keep that in mind and if it ever seems like its deteriorating ill just wrap it with somethin else

KennyM uses and sells pink serving material:)

How do you know Roy. Do you use it to tie bows on that pretty skirt of yours. :bigsmyl:
-
Tony I never did like you...

Great patch. I use spider fishing line. It is just about the same as kevlar. You can make strings out of that if it's long enough but you better have some horn or something on the tips to protect from the string cutting into the wood. I have made many strings from the spider wire fishing line- better than fast flight and a lot cheaper. My neighbor is a avid fisherman and changes the string out on his reels every year and I get his discards.

Yep, superglue, wrap with 100% silk thread....sweet as summer rain!

I have a permanent crease in my hair line that serves as a reminder to fix those things when you first notice them.
