Title: Ever use Grenadillo?
Post by: kennym on December 21, 2013, 05:26:00 PM
Bought some blocks of it since coco has gotten so crazy, just wondered if you have any pics of it in a bow?

Kenny - this is a RER that I sold a while back - pretty sure it was "grenadillo".

Kenny what other names for that wood did they use? We may not be talking about the same wood. The wood in mwosborn's bow is also called coyote, trebol, granidillio, macaba and macawood plus a couple other names.Your looks lighter but it may be the lighting. The sap wood on this is usually a nice whit right to the very first dark grain. It usually has a wavy grain to it also. Its some really nice wood

I used to buy Granadillo from a shop I could drive to and pick through his stock. It varied quite a bit in figure. It's super heavy and finishes up like glass. Had kind of a pinkish hue and looked good paired up with bubinga. Only downside was it really gummed up my sanding belts.
