I shoot a 55# at 28",29.5" arrow currently shooting 2117 xx78 decent arrow flight but could be better any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jason
How heavy a point?
IMHO the 2117 is a tad heavy which may add some spine to the arrow. I shoot 2114`s with 145 grain tips or broadheads that weight right around 500 grains.
Another option is 2018`s. these are heavier than 2114`s but the spine is more in line with your 55lb. draw weight.
Some one I am sure will say 2216 but that is way over spine and over weight for me.
A log will fly great out of any bow but drop like a rock after 15 yards.
I'm shooting 125 grn points. The 2117 seems to go into the target straight but does some kicking around when it comes out of the bow.Turkey season is around the corner, want to get good flight before then. Thanks again for the help,Jason
I use 31" 2117's and 125gr. heads out of my 65 to 70 pound bows. I would say that 2018 or 2114 would be your arrow.
like thats said before, you could increase your head weight as another option.

2016 would most likely be your best choice.
i shoot 30'' 2018's out of a 52# gamemaster recurve w 100gr. points. total arrow weight is 520grs. maybe try some or some 2020's.
Try the 2018. I shoot them at 28.5" out of my 55#
Acadian Woods Tree Stick. I shoot them with 150 grain stingers. Great flight and penetration. They also shoot good from my 51# @ 28" Caribow
Perigrine Longbow.

I get great arrow flight with 29.5" 2117's with 125 grain points from my 50#-55# bows & 28.5" draw. Let me know when you are ready to sell your 2117's, Covey!
I can add that I also shoot 29.5" 2213's with great results. The spine is very close to that of 2018's. They are fairly light; XX78's with 3-4" parabolic feathers and 125 grain point weigh around 475 grains. With a cap wrap and 5" feathers they weigh around 490. At 55# this is still 8.9GPP though, so I don't consider it an issue for deer sized critters...
2016s lighter point, 2018 heavy point
Your set up is close to mine. Instead of the xx75 try the 2117 Camo 2 with a 100 grain head. When alm.shafts are made they have tinsel measurement test or how much does it take to bend the shaft. Even if they are the same size 2117 their is a difference in the shaft itself. I can see the difference between them when I shoot. The camo 2 has a lighter measurement then the xx75 and they hold up petty good.
2018
long bow, recurve, cut to center, past center or what? post was feb. 29 2008? probably don't have the bow any more.
