I believe this is my first post on this board. However, I have been lurking for the past couple of months. I've done a few board bows that have turned out fairly nice. Now I would like to try a bamboo backed ipe.
Anyways this is what I took out of the woods today.

Ok I love in the wrong part of the world! No bamboo No ipe and so little Osage it is next to impossible to find one to cut!
Good grief...is that a sewer pipe? Wow!
mjwhitby I agree Arkansas is most definitely the wrong part of the world..lol I lived there for a bit when I was young. Hated it....lolol No offence to you though..lol But I'm sure there are good parts of it out there..lol
Pretty small in diameter, borderline for bow backing although it will work for a narrow bow.
There are some patches of timber bamboo near Anderson, Greenwood, Abbyville area. Some of it is up to 6" in diameter.
I would guess that is what this is. The one piece I cut was probably 50' tall and it wasn't the largest. This grove is at least 4 acres.
