All the stars have alined, now its connect the dots. I plan on moving to Arizona first of June. Been looking for a decade at the Prescot area thinking thats where I want to be :D I will have to base out of Phoenix for a few months more than likely. As Mom has free room and board  in Glendale. Until I can find just where I belong in Prescot for housing and a job. I know we have Chortdraw in Prescot. Who else is there??? I'm looking forward to meeting Chortdraw and the rest of you Arizona Tradgangers
That accent is gonna make it real big out there don'cha know!
Could the snow be the reason too????
Hey Brent what da say about getting togehter for lunch in the next couple weeks, I'll even buy :scared: or better yet we can invite Robs lifts and make him buy :biglaugh:
Are they ready for the likes of you?
Congrats
Mitch
Well, Brent, I'm going to Phoenix today, but I'm coming back tomorrow night.
It makes me an AZ tradganger for 16 hours :D
seriously, good luck with everything man
Alex
Brent best of luck!
Thanks guys! And Mitch ya can't say I did not warn them. :D
Brent say it isnt so!!! Man who am I going to have to harrass this summer? You just get me started in league and your gonna bail on me???
That sounds great good for you. When you get settled I will have to come and visit for an elk hunt!!! :campfire: :goldtooth:
That Texas warmth got to you, huh?
Ya Rob 300+ days of sunshine, being a hour or so from the desert floor and heat. Or being 1 1/2hrs from sking in Flagstaff. Will be really hard to take :readit: Little gold prospecting for fun on the side.
Add some tradgangers to shoot with  :jumper:
Hey Brent - you got a nice gal, I met here at the Kzoo dinner. At your age, one should be enough.
I hear that even residents have to draw for tags in that state. Are you sure you want to go to the sunbelt? Oh yeah, Arizona Sweat '09 on the horizon....
Three strikes I'm out
Been there, done that, got the T shirt, used it to wipe up the blood. Good luck buddy.
Hey Brent will you still post my pics? Also be aware of the pending water crisis. To many people to little HOH (water) .
Bill
I hope we get to make it to Paw-Paw atleast once this year before you go. All these times of you, kicking my tail at league, you owe me atleast a round of 3d. I gotta get some payback. :readit:
Were gonna miss ya Brent.
Could you not pick someplace that was on the way to Texas! Arizona is little outa the way, but I spose I can make it for you bud. Just might have to hunt javies in Arizona for week then head for Texas. Nothing wrong with Sweatin for two weeks. I wish you all the best for your future plans, change is good sometimes. Don't worry Dorothy find ya no matter where ya go!
Rob your on I'm callin ya out
Brent,I'be heard that AZ has a few elk also. Congradulations and good luck on the move.
Best of luck with the move buddy :wavey:
Good going Brent now its going to cost more to ship bows when we trade!!!!! HA HA good luck buddy!
Cool! So, ya' going to have all the mule deer and javi spots scouted in time for January?
I sure hope to Joe, will ya come down and go
Congrats on the move, Brent. Wishin' ya all the best! :archer:
LD
good luck Brent you will have lot's of chance to hunt all the different critter's out their.
doug77
You gonna leave before Comptons? Sure was lookin forward to spendin some time with you and Frank and Shell and Joe and so many others!
Brent,
Congratulations on your move to the west, you will find you have more types of game to hunt, just don't know if Arizona would have been my first pick. Even residents have to draw to be able to hunt in that state, other then that, it has some great areas. Also, that skiing thing is highly overrated (I live in the largest ski area in the US), for me it's much more fun to chase critters through the snow in the mountains then to slide down them and hurt myself. :scared:
Oh ya, plan a yearly trip back east, you are going to miss whitetail hunting. Those little things that pass for whitetail in AZ are about the size of a August fawn where your at now, they say they are ten time harder to hunt, and you only get one tag for them each year.
Congrats on your move Brent. If ya need a huntin spot for here in Dixie just give me a yell. Looking forward to some stories after you get settled in. :wavey:
Hey hormoan, too bad you can't make it for this weekends Traditional Archers of AZ spring shoot. Yea, you heard me, it's spring time here. You can go snow skiing or water skiing with only a 100 mile drive. 100 miles is a short drive out here.
Sounds like you guys have a lot of false info on AZ hunting. I draw an elk tag 4 out of 5 years. AZ has some of the best trophy big game animals in the country, check the record books.
You can buy a deer, bear, lion and turkey tag over the counter.
Come on out to Granite Mt. Archers range in Prescott when you get here. We have a good group of traditional shooters.
One underwear pic and the folks in Michigan are making you leave??? Good luck with the move Brent...was looking forward to seeing you again at Compton. Almost took a job in Mesa some years ago but chickened out....was there in July and it was way to hot for me.
You know my plans Brent - I think I've got January open! :readit:
Brent, I'm complating the move also. The wind and cold just might budge me from Wyoming. I have a sister in Prescott so that might be my first choice also. CS, Chortdraw and the rest of the brothern might get a new member one of these days.
Prarrie Dog
I have heard those little desert deer are quite
a challenge.
One of the few places on earth, where you can stand in 100 degree heat, and look at snow capped mountains.
Best of luck...
P.S., I bet you will miss those crisp Michigan mornings "come November".
Brent
So that's what all the Squeelin' was about  Sun vs Snow ain't a bad idea...just put in an offer yesterday on a little spot in SC! Let's see headin' straight west with a couple of trad gang stoppin' spots, I could meet up with Whip in time to get his Tee pee up on your front lawn :bigsmyl: Yep, January sounds good...a months worth of practice before the Sweat. Good on you...Doc
Way to go Brent, but if Whip showes up I might be a stowaway :bigsmyl:
Brent,
I just heard! I truley hope things go well for you.
Wish I'd have gotten that project we talked about to you sooner. Don't want to ship it now as I am sure you are too busy with everything else.
Anyway, good luck and all that!
The wonders of all the friends we have. All accross the country on Tradgang :readit: :D
This sounds like a change you're looking forward to, so I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. You know, Brent, there's a lot of good obsidian in Arizona... Something to feed your new addiction. :wavey:
Woody I will need a little of your help IDing what I'm looking for. Not sure I will recognize a diamond in the rough. And my plans for a little fun at prospecting will have me searching the ground like a bird dog :D
Sooo......ya gave up the cold north woods for resident javi, mule deer, elk hunting? Sounds like you will not miss the snow. I have family in the area, so I will give you a yell when I get back to the area!!! Sounds like a great move!!
But now it is just Hunt It, myself and Dorothy driving to the Sweat next year. :scared:
I think there are more Trad shooters in the Prescott area than any one other area in the state. The kid (now all grown up)I grew up with, moved there years back and likes the area more than the Flagstaff area. My sister lives in Paulden/Chino Valley (just outside of Prescott), there is a super guy that makes beautiful longbows. Mike or Grizz as we call him has a great shop to hang out in at his ranch. The weather there in Prescott can't be beat.
Brent Good Luck with the Move.
Scott
So Michigan gets what they been prayin a lifetime for......Arizona is the unsuspecting RECEPIANT of PRAYER.......OK
Life's to short ta ride a BAD HORSE Bud......
Well Brent, You are about to move to the best part of AZ. I live about 2 min. from the archery range :bigsmyl: We have 4-5/ 3-d shoots a year at our range.
You might want to think it over before you make this move...that's long enough.....now get packed.
They also have some great shoots in the higher country in the summer among the ponderosa pines. Shoot, there is just nothing to do out here :biglaugh:
Chort
I need a shooting buddy Chort, kinda thinking of you :D And a mentor to Az.
The only time I go to Phoenix is under duress or if they have a winter shoot at Ben Avery shooting range. Also I head down hill to do a little quail hunting. Gets a might hot down there. Great for lemons, oranges and grapefruit though.
Got a archer in the club that kicks our butt at the shoots. His name is Chris and shoots a black widder. He usually wins the silver arrow shoot we have which is a tough one to shoot, but a lot of fun.
Oh I'm not long in the valley :readit: I'm on the side of the mountain with you :D in very short order!
hey brent I will see ya soon at your work for lunch sorry to hear you are leavin. see ya soon
I just got back from the TAA shoot in Mesa. It may be the last shoot the Traditional Archers of AZ has. As of 11am when we left, there was only 15 registered shooters. The last TAA shoot in Prescott only had 25 shooters. TAA's spring 2002 shoot had over 275 shooters. I don't know what happened to all the trad archers in the state.
The good news is all the 3D shoots around the state have a traditional class.
As far as gold panning goes, most of the gold bearing rivers and creeks are under claim or private property. There is a section of Lynx Creek, just outside of Prescott in the national forest, for recreational panning. You can only use a pick, pan and shovel. I live in Walker, an old gold mining ghost town, about 10 miles south of Prescott on Lynx Creek. Lynx Creek was one of the richest gold deposits in the state.
Chortdraw, I'll give you a call to go shooting this coming week.
Oh BUMMER, we did not know about that shoot in Mesa. Could use the sunshine too.
highcountry, the club mailed out over 200 flyers last month. I posted it on Trad Gangs trad events forum and didn't get a single reply. It's a real shame when a small group of people go through all the work to set up a great shoot for traditional archers, and nobody shows up.
I'll just bet ya when Heirmoan gets down there you'll grow in Hordes and Gaggles at these shoots   He's an event in himself (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d171/IronBull_/Smileys/smileycutesthighfive.gif)
Then if ya can show him where to catch SALMON and let him fire up his smokers, you'll need to build some STADIUMS to hold yer shoots in. (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d171/IronBull_/Smileys/RoflLg.gif)
No salmon fishing in AZ, great fishing for just about everythig else.
Hi Brent,
Good luck with the move. I'v been several times in Tempe for business.
Arnold
csbullseye, Man its hard to believe you went from 275 shooters in 02 to a hand full. Something there sure don't seem right. Thanks for all the info, til we meet on a range somewhere!!!
Hey Hormoan, I live just over the state line in Calif. we have a bunch of Traditional shoots throughout the year. Welcome to the West.... We also hust in Az alot......
Good luck with the move Brent! I hope to head out west in a couple of years......maybe you can put me up for a night or two! Seriously, best of luck! Mike
Best wishes and good luck on the move. Not to wizz in your Wheaties, but I made a similar move a few years ago and think often about why. But as we all know sometimes you just have to.
But your more "experienced" in life than I and I am certain the move will be a good thing for ya. Plus these winters are getting pretty boring.
It was great to meet ya while you were here... and I hope to share a campfire with you sometime in the future.
DesertDude I will be looking you up!! And Mike you are welcome any time at my place. (Well Ok when I find it! :D ) Come and shoot with us tomorrow night John, your time to pick on me is limited :bigsmyl:
Brent I will be a league again tomorrow night!! I told my wife last week was a free be for ya. This week I need to kick some butt!! :archer:
Brent, So do we michigan boys get to sign up on "future hormoan" hunt program? I'm sure we could pack a few truckloads of us up about mid winter for a drive down...we'll bring ya a few coolers full of snow/ice for free even!
Bring your snow stuff-I was hunting javelinas in Peeples Valley in Jan and had 8 inches of heavy wet snow collapse my tent-it only looks warm
You wouldn't happen to have some extra room would you? I can't wait for the day I can say I'm moving. AZ may be a consideration. Good luck brother.
