66" 66@28 and apparently the finest hunting bow I've ever owned.  I thought certain I'd be retiring it after I got my Shrew, but that's just not the case.  This bow is my curse.

I had one quite awhile ago, 68", 57#@27", back when Asbell was making them (and when I could pull that weight).  Mild R/D, wasn't fancy but I liked that aspect of it.  Tough finish, shot well, rugged, not real fast but a good solid dependable hunting bow.

I believe the Asbell era Ramhunters to be the smoothest longbows I have owned.  A little big in the grip but nothing you can't get used to.  Don't have any experience with Ron Nelson's Ramhunters but I know he makes some fine bows...................Shick

got a LH asbell era one going to be here Friday.. 66" 65@28 bought it off the auction site, I wasnt sure if I would like it, I already have a couple folks interested if I dont. This thread makes me feel better about my purchase.. I have heard good things about these bows like said above, a good solid bow with mild R/D I like the "old school" aspect of it.

Here is a picture Ron Nelson sent me of a recent Ram Hunter he made for a customer

My Ram Hunter is an Asbell.  Can't say how the new ones shoot.

Looks like Ron may be slimming down the handle a bit.  I like that.  Like Shick, I had an Asbel era Ramhunter.  Good bow.  Haven't tried the newer model.  Probably just as good.  Didn't Ron make a lot of the bows back when Fred owned the company?

For you guys that have an Asbell era Ramhunter you also have a Ron Nelson Ramhunter.
Ron and his brother Glenn made most of the bows that came out of the Fort Lupton shop.
Ron has tweaked the design a bit and I feel it is a bit smoother and faster than the original.

Bought several new longbows from Fred when he brought out the ram hunter all were good bows cast a goood hunting arrow felt good in the hand.
Picked one up at his shop on the way to Colorado bow jamberee. Tater is right on Glenn and Ron were the ones that made these then!!!!!
