Im not a fan of poetry but I found this to my liking. It was in Full Draw, the publication for New York Bowhunters Inc. and was written by Tullio DeSantis and titled "Running, Bleeding". Here it is.... Bloods flying out of you like a floock of red birds freed up from pressured spaces.Your weakening now, running for your life.As life leaves youmarking the trees with inner scent. The dry woods soaked red leaf and root will glow anew, warmed and fed by your pass.Your deer heart unaware continues beating pumping out your life as if you are the world. But you are not the world, you are yourself and you are dying.Your bright tail signals surrender.Ill make it up to you, this beautiful murder. You will continue on within me.
By Tullio De Santis.
I'd like to see that on a plaque, along with a nice Whittail picture! Biff
Kind of sad, but respectful. It is part of hunting though, weather you like it or not. Probably not my favorite part, but a part none the less.
i like it, sad but very good work.
Not a poem to recite at a PETA Rally. :archer:
No not really.Like I said I dont dig poems for the most part but I kinda felt this one. When Im bloodtrailin a deer Im thinking like I believe its thinking and I sure do want that deer to die in short order. At the same time Im in awe over its will to survive and lastly I question my motivation as I do everytime Ive dropped a hammer or string on game. After 25 of hunting years you think Id of had my motivation figured out by now!!! :banghead:
