I think the 62' is the flagship of the Kodiak Magnums.  Beautiful indeed.

I see on another post that someone says the older k-mags are great but in the "case for the shorter bow" by fred ashbell (sp?) in this past months trad hunter mag they say that all of the older short bows where not made as well as the ones today as a result of the materials now available.  Is there any validity to that statement.

Flb,  a 1962 Bear k-mag is 45 years old and still shooting well. How much better do you think they can be made, than that?

I have one that I just re-finished and wouldn't trade it for nothin!

This one seems to still work, and work quite well I might add..Not to mention her shear beauty. So I am NOT going to tell you old bows are not as well made as new ones.....They have been around alot longer then the new ones and only time will tell..But my new grandson wants to shoot a deer with this one in 2062 !!!!! I'll keep ya posted.....bowdoc Hey I wonder if someone gave G.Fred and new bow to say that???????? (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/6007.jpg)

Pretty bow there, MJB. I think you will really like her.

Don Ward, that K Mag has some very attractive grain in the riser. Is the bow original condition, or have you worked your "magic" on it?

Hi Steve nope she's all original. But the finish is flaking off the limbs,more-so along the edges exposeing a few spots of core-wood.This spring maybe I will be caught up enough to get started on my own...bowdoc

Kodiak Magnums were only made in the 52 inch length. Grizzlys were made in various lengths, (56"-62"). The 1949 Aluminum Lam Grizzly was Bear Archery's first production bow. All models (bows produced by Bear Archery Co.)  previously were handcrafted to order. The little brother to the Bear Kodiak, the Kodiak  Magnum was introduced in 1961 and has been in production ever since. An 80# 1968 Kodiak Magnum just ended on e8ay, I believe it sold for a very reasonable price, that is the highest poundage Kodiak Magnum I have ever seen. My personal favorites are the '59 Grizzly and the '64 K Mag.
