I know that I sure am! I will be trying for the third year in a row to take one with a longbow with no blind. I ALMOST had it done last year but it just didnt happen. Im hopin this is the year!
I am gonna take my two oldest kids (5 and 7) out today to a turkey HOTSPOT to build a few ground blinds in some already great blowdowns. We only have a little less than a month to go before gobble time!
Me, I'm looking forward to it. 6 saturdays away!!!
Yeap me too!! heading back to Iowa and get the blinds up.. Got a full plate, guiding first season and some fourth season. Then have some fellow trad gangers coming for a chase or two the rest of the time.
Now that is the best looking decoy I've ever seen. LOL
Lewis, better look for the cave dwelling variety. I hear they are blind as bats! Good luck to you this year.

It's A wonderful time too be in the woods,I would much rather be deer hunting but the turkey's are A pretty good fix, for my addiction for the outdoor's..
Lewis..What is the difference between a ground blind and tent blind if you say your hunting with "no" blind?  :D
Very True Joe!! LOL
When I say ground blind I mean like stacking sticks, and I would say with the ground blind you are still nowhere near as concealed as sitting in a Double Bull. At least I havent been able to build one with sticks that did such a good job! LOL
So I should say:
"I will be trying for the third year in a row to take one with a longbow with no synthetic complete concealment blinds". HAHAHAA
Ive been stuck in the shop finishing bows and have had little time out hunting, im sooooooooo ready for turkey season. Normally ive been out shooting hogs, but like ive said, the shop has been taking my time. Turkeys, here I come.
I'm ready... this will be my second year trying to tag a thunder chicken
I know what you meant Lewis, just teasing!! ;) If you are ever near Franklin Ga, please use my ground blind. heres a pic of 5 year old when he was 1.5...we had just made it. His sippy cup is still in there!

He looks to have his "Game" face on! HAHA
I have one particular spot that has a nice blow down that I am gonna "spruce" up a little bit. During this past Deer season I had a BIG Tom walk about 9 yards from me never knowing i was there until I tried to raise me cell phone to take a pic. I thought he was looking away from me but then I remembered they DO have eyes in the back of thier heads!!! LOL
Thunder Chicken! I love that. I am still trying to get one w/ a tent blind. Both my archery turkey fell to a compound-flung arrow. Just switched to traditional only two years ago and haven't killed one yet. Havin' fun tryin' though!
I got my first one with trad equipment last year... Nothin like being up on a ridge with the sun just coming up and hearing that faint gobble then goin and gettin him!
17 DAYS TILL TURKEY SEASON!!!!!!
Probably use up most of my vacation time as usual for the season.
Actually hunted 38 days of our 45 day season a few years ago.........won't be able to swing that much this season, but will be able to sneak in quite a few before work hunts during the week.
I cant wait for our Louisiana season to open only 23 days left, then Kansas, then Missouri, then Kentucky, then Arkansas maybe if there is time on the way home and finish the season here. If you cant tell I really really really like turkey hunting. :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
You bet!!! I'm ready. March 25 here.
Have a great season.
Ed :archer:
As usual, something screws up my season. The 2nd shift guy came in yesterday to announce that he's leaving in 2 weeks. Some days, I feel like Charlie Brown.
I think "thunder chicken" is another name for grouse, not turkeys. Either way, good luck.
