Title: Fiberglass question
Post by: K. Mogensen on January 26, 2013, 06:32:00 PM
Okay, real quick question about the fiberglass on my bow.

Just started refinishing it, and am in the process of sanding w/ 220. Got the limbs sanded down to glass, but I notice in a few spots, in the edge of the glass, I can see little white dots, like there's lateral weaving or something and I'm seeing the ends. Is this normal? Is it dangerous? Will it go away once I put finish on it? Seems like when I wipe some denatured alcohol on it, they almost disappear.

Searched on this and couldn't find anything. Tried to take some pics, but my camera won't focus good enough to get a good picture.

The glass is black.

Thanks for any help you can give me, it's appreciated.

Hi Kiefer,

Probably the scrim strands, which is a woven layer , shouldn't be a problem, and should disappear when you spray finish on em.

The white dots are more noticeable with red glass and yes they disappear when the finish is applied. Mike
