Title: tree id's
Post by: DVSHUNTER on November 29, 2012, 12:25:00 PM
I've got a few tree on my jobsite I have to remove. I think they are elm and black locust, but I'm not sure. Think you guys can help?

Cut some long straight sections. You'll have plenty of takers!

I'm looking forward to it Pearlie. It's one of the woods I've been wanting to try.

You'll say..well that was nice,its good wood,but it ain't osage  ;) ....lol

Looks like both are bow worthy to me...lightly temper the locust, and give the elm a deeper darker tempering

Thanks for the advice.

I like to work a few "other" woods to make me really appreciate the osage I have growing everywhere. Even if it wasn't better than the rest I would still pick it just on color alone. :-)

That elm will split a lot better if you cut fairly deep kerfs with a circular saw.

I should have had him split them into smaller pieces!
