Are left wing feathers becoming harder to get than right wing? (Please, no political jokes.) There seems to be a much bigger selection of RW feathers available nowadays.
I was always told that RW feather were actually less common since the turkey farmers usually clipped the right wing of their turkeys. Anybody know the real story?

I see more LW than RW on a bid site. I think most people use RW so there should be more availability for LW.
I thought most used LW except for us guys who I'm told shoot with the wrong hand.
It is geographical. LW are more common on the east coast and RW are more common on the West coast. I think it is easier for distributor and vendors to keep it simple and sell one wing or the other in their area. This is at least what I have been told when I moved out west after living in the East all my life. I could be wrong, but it wouldn't be the first time. BTW the only thing that is LW about me is the feathers on my arrows.
Some time ago, like maybe the early '80's Left wing feathers had a premium price because of the clippin to keep the birds grounded. I switched to right wing then just to save a few cents.
That is no longer the case so they should be equally available.
Like everything else the cost now is extreme compared to back then.

I've never seen a bird with two left wings! :-)
I do notice a better selection of LW than RW. Probably because I shoot RW.

Turkey feathers come off dead birds at turkey processing plants. Trueflight sells more RW that LW feathers. What CarbonCaster said may be true, but according to Trueflight RW are more used in modern archery and overseas (Europe, Australia, ect) LW feathers are most commonly used by traditional shoots mainly based on the old myth that RH shooters should shoot LW feathers. You will most likely see in the future a price difference between RW and LW feathers with the RW being more expensive. dino
Been using left wing feathers for more than 40 years. Have never had a problem getting them. Always been able to buy as many as I wanted whenever I wanted.
My supplier is well stocked in both wings. However, they did eliminate all Trueflight RW feathers...not enough sales...Stocks LW only.
Thats why I shoot and sell AMG...both wings available and cheaper.
