Title: sinew backing
Post by: phil_des_bois on February 26, 2008, 10:06:00 AM
Hi guys,

After being quite happy with laminated fiber glass bow building, here is my latest bow (64# @ 28" 54" T/D) :

I'm starting to work on wood and sinew, but after hide glueing the sinew, I have a slight delamination (less than 1"length, the opening is less than 1/32" and this not goes from one edge to the other of the limb).

Can I fix than by using very thin hide glue in the small space between the wood and the sinew, and adding a layer of sinew which will well cover that part?

Thanks
Phil

I have used superglue to reattach small areas where sinew has lifted.  Get some glue in there and the clamp it with a clamp that has a rubber piece to protect your work and conform to the shape.

Tite-bond glue is compatable with hide glue. And I've used the super glue as John prescribed also.-ART B

So you guys think that I'd better use a synthetic glue rather that hide glue ?
Thanks for your input.
