Kenny came though with another great piece of wood and the lams were top notch. This is my second bow. How do you guys glue up without getting to much on?

Very nice work!

rather get too much than too little!!nice job!!
it gets easier to get the right amount the more you do
-
Looks great!!
Like bamboo said, too much is better than not enough.
-
That looks fantastic.
Where did you find information for making bows like that. I love the hill style bows and I'd like to find some info on making bows of that style.
-
Thanks for the nice comments. I am using a little foam roller , what do you guys use?
-
I use a plastic spackle knife. That riser is stunning. What wood is that? Coco?
-
Yes Coco, That might work better. I am having a hard time getting even coverage
-
I don't know what epoxy you are using, but smooth on is pretty thick and the spackle knife gives me a pretty even coat.
-
That riser is awesome! ! I use a metal putty knife to spread the bow snotty.
-
Nice work!

Nice bow!
I've been using those little "chip" paint brushes and they seem to work good. The only thing is you have to watch out for the bristles that may fall off.
-
I use paint sticks. You can cut them down to whatever size you want.
So far coco is my favorite wood to use in a riser. Great looking bow
-
Looks great Steve,
I use a wood lam, sawed in half lengthwise to make a paddle about 1/8 x 3/4 x 9"
Then just blade it on there like you were operating a motor grader. You don't have to make the noise, but I like to!! LOL
Just kiddin on the last part!!
-
I have a lamp on above my glue up bench , it helps me see how thick I have the glue on each lamination and any foreign matter that may have got in the glue. I mix up my glue in a clear dixy cup with a piece of wood chucked in a drill to get good mixing of the smooth on I also use a metal putty knife.

Kenny you are not kidding so quit lying...all of us make those little car and truck noises when spreading glue. Those are the things that make this business of building bows and arrows FUN!!!
(the kid in my always pops out when I am spreading the glue)

:notworthy: Looks awesome!

Beautiful bow!
-
Stunning, very pretty wood in that riser.
-
I mostly make swear words! I use an off cut of glass and apply it on a slight angle like a dozer blade making a skim cut . when I do that I use far less glue than when I use a narrower stick. Nearly forgot great bow, love the riser wood. Got a thing for HH style myself.
-
Ok seams like most of you guys are using a stick or something similar to spread the glue. The roller i was using would start out with a clump then quickly run out to nothing very frustrating. Yes that's a piece of Coco from Kennym, he has great products! and better service! Thanks for all the kind comments.

Nate- I only make diesel noises for glue and other heavy equipment work.
Not like Roy, who makes the lil riceburning noise....
