What would some of you hardcore turkey hunters recomment for a broadhead for POC arrows? I'm thinking about Snuffers, but evidently turkeys like to run off, not realizing they are dead, on pass throughs. Any ideas on keeping the heads in the bird? I will be using a 60# longbow.
Big 160 Snuffers! I've killed a dozen or so now with them. Don't worry about shooting thru them if hit right,it just doesn't happen to often.
Here's one from a 63# curve and 11yds, 600gr arrow....

Looks like I'll be sharpening up some Snuffers. Thanks guys.
Same here too....
Pat, birds running off are a concern, Stringtrackers are just the ticket for recovering turkeys......there are a number of different ways to attach them to your bow, and at the distances that I shoot at turkeys, 15 yards and under, there is no affect on arrow flight. I too would have lost the turkey I shot last year if not for a stringtracker...

Check out the new bullhead by magnus- wow! Check out the magnus site video. . .the 2.75" is good for head or body shots.
any SNuffffer,, but the 160 is deadly,,Curt has a great article about using the string trackers,,You should have one before you hit the woods,,
Any thoughts on using a 2 blade head on turkeys.
Also, what is the best way to attach the string to a POC arrow?
The velcro witht he sticky back,, put it on wrapped around the arrow right behind the head,, then when you want to use your string just wrap the string in that several times,,There is a two blade I thought would be awsome too,, made by Simmons

Oh,, one more thing,, That spine shot is very deadly as Curt has proven time and time again,, did one in last spring like that and man what a great shot,,
I've used fairly small two-blade heads, 5/16 Zwickey Eskimos and Magnus IIs on cedar forgewoods. Have worked well for me. Thinking of using a Howard Hill head this year. I agree that you don't have to worry about shooting through them, even with a small head. Turkeys don't have the mass of a deer so when the arrow strikes them, it moves their body away from the force of the impact, reducing penetration. I'm always torn between using what I'm using and using bigger heads. My brother lost a bird last year shooting a 4 blade Zwickey. Just hit the bird a little high, probably in the wing butt. Bowled the bird over, but it ran off before he could clear the blind to finish it off. Very heavy cover. Maybe a smaller blade would have slipped into the body cavity. Don't know. Shot probably killed the bird, but we couldn't find it. As always, shot placement is the key. Unfortunately, a turkey's kill zone is quite small.
Im gonna try the no mercy zwickeys this year
What do ya'll think about M-A3-L for turkeys?

Made them from M-A3-L by soldering on high carbon steel winglets ...
now there's an idea!
