Still putting the tillering gizmo on there. Some areas could be working more.
-
Beautiful work there, is the right limb the top? I wish I could find some osage around here. Moar pics :p
-
now thats a tillering TREE. :bigsmyl:
great lookign bow looks like your on the home stretch
-
Not sure which limb will be on top. The pic is at somewhat of an angle to the bow I think.
Right limb seems stiff about midlimb?
-
Looks good, Jim. I was thinking the right limb looked stiff, too. Could just be the angle of the pic.
-
Jim, it's hard to tell from the pic, take a 4" piece of wood and run it along the belly and watch the gap. But you probably know all about that trick :D
-
That is kind of what the tillering gizmo does. It draws a pencil line on the spots that are flat.
I shot it again this morning with some cedar arrows nd it shot awesomely. Very quick.
-
Been shooting it this morning. This is an honest 27 yard group. Not all of them were this good but this bow has potential.

damn all you guys that can put a grouping like that out there!!
very very well done, on an awesome bow, and even better shooting!!! :clapper:
-
Good work Jim. I've cut a bit of osage in OK but all has had very tight growth rings. Maybe my area.
-
Nice bow! Jawge
-
Thank you all. I have some Osage on the ground now that has really nice rings.
I'm going to have the paramedics on standby when I start splitting it LOL!
-
Your new osage bow looks pretty good to me! I am getting addicted to the selfbow thing myself. I cut some osage last month and I have some that was dead and tests at 10% moisture.....so I have been roughing out a few myself.
Good luck!
-
Bows is coming along good Jim. I agree about the right limb looking a little stiffer than the left. But DANG! what a group! I'm jealous! :archer2:
-
It LOVES those cedar shafts! Not all the groups were that good but when I can get the feathers to touch that is worthy of a pic. LOL!
This bow is from an OJAM stave that I bought last year. I finally realized that I need to get the short string on it sooner so I dont scrape all the draw weight off of them!
-
Beautiful work sir, I'm going to have to try a selfbow. I *should* have some Osage here, but I haven't seen any yet. Hickory, Elem and ERC are all over the place so I may have to start with one of them.
-
Thank you Matt. Check old fence rows.

Skinned this bow today with a timber rattler. I'm going to finish the tips with some black dye and some sinew wrap around the skin ends.
-
great job on that one.
-
Great job Jim,and if it keeps shootin like that, don't change a thing!!
-
I need to figure out what spine they are and get some more!
-
45-55s I believe.
