As in another thead about bows and broadheads, how about a list of shooters that shoots 50 lbs and under, what animals they have shot with what broadheads? List the style of bow, the animal/animals harvested, and with what broadhead

I have filled every archery tag I could get my hands on here in WV in the past three seasons and have yet to carry a bow in the woods over 49#s. Last two seasons were 46# bows. My arrows are always carbon and my broadheads are ALWAYS multi-blade heads. Snuffers with my BW recurve and with my longbow I use SteelForce with bleeders.
hey Otto! you need a hunting buddy? :archer:
I shoot 47 lbs at my draw. Hogs, deer, javalina, and small game, no problem. W-W broadhead and carbon arrow with 100 grain adapters.

So how did it feel to shoot a nice buck like that with a bow that's 20 years older than YOU are!!
I took my first bow-buck with a 48@26 Zipper and Magnus II - 2 Blades, the arrow never slowed down until it killed a log...
Otto....you don't have to ask that question. Look at the grin on that guy's face 8^). You couldn't peel that off of that boy. Beautiful buck and nice story.
Bowhunter: Joseph L. Wesbrock (my grandfather)
Bows: 50's and 60's recurves pulling low-40's at 26"
Arrows: Mostly aluminum tipped with 3-blade Arrowmate heads
Animals: more whitetails than CWD. ;)

haha that is one of the first things my dad said to me after he saw it, but it was one of my most cherished trophies i will ever have, I euro mounted him and he is up on the wall i was going to get a shoulder mount but i ended up shooting a bigger one with a recurve Danny Rowan gave me that is 30 years older than me. Very very good season
All my trad bows have been under 50lbs at my draw length.Just shot some deer, a few hogs along with a couple of foxes and treerats. It is all we hunt around here.
Those are some impressive weight to harvest ratios. There are still a lot of people out there that think a bow under 50 lbs is not enough. After reading this, I think I am going to be dropping some weight myself, Thanks everyone...keep them coming
Have shot 2 javies and a mule deer at 15 -20 yds with r/d longbow that I made. 1816 alm.arrows with 125 magnus BH;s. Bow is 42# at my 24-25" draw length. Also use a 45# that was used on the deer. Keep em sharp and put them in the bread basket............Chort
Guys, thanks for this post. I'm ordering a new bow in the next day or so and am planning on ordering 43-45lbs. I was having some doubts about the wieght but really wanted to drop down to improve my accuracy. I just hunt whitetails and hogs. You'll have made my decision easier. Thanks again for the great post and pictures.
Be honest, John. You just want to drop weight so you can outshoot me, don't you? LOL
The hog in my avatar was about 170 lbs. I shoot an ACS CX that is 46-47# at my draw. I also shot a 150 lb Goat and a 125 lb Sheep with the same bow using cedar arrows and 145 grain STOS broadheads.
No passthrus, but got both lungs each time.
Deer, hogs and turkeys, all with bows pulling less than 50lb. Biggest hog 260lb with widow PL pulling 48 at my draw using WW head...penatrated to fletching.
I just ordered a 43 # @ 29" from Dan, one of his famous " Whip " bows, I'm really looking forward to it. With it tuned, and a two blade broadhead, it should be able to take anything in North America. Close encounters of course, five to 30 yd., as long as you keep your cool, and do what's right, 40, 45, is a great poundage, for accuracy. I don't think it is so much the poundage as to " how " you use your equipment.
Of course I'll probably work up to about 48, but for right now 43 #is just fine.

You certainly don't want to get caught up in that " wheels " attitude with a stick in your hand !

For the 2007 season, a spike and a big bodied 10 point with a 47# Black Widow MAII, and a doe with my 45# Hummingbird longbow.
Three deer taken in 2006 with my 46# Kota Prairie Nomad longbow.
Three deer taken in 2005 with my 46# Kota Prairie Nomad longbow.
All deer were shot with First Cut 2 blade broadheads.
Most of my game has been taken with bows in the low 5O's But I have shot a couple of Javelina with a 45lb Owl Bow(actually about 43 at my draw at the time) The 45 lb bow I'll take Javie hunting this trip shoots the same weight arrows as my 52 lb selfbow a tad faster-That selfbow bagged the biggest deer I'll ever likely shoot.
For years my Father has shot 44lbs at 24". He has taken Deer, Turkeys, Javelina, rabbits, frogs and one meadowlark in flight.(The Lark was a fortuitous miss-The deer dropped at the shot and he shot over its back and hit the lark in flight.)
This sure is some interestging reading folks
